Wilson Shaw

Wilson Eugene Shaw, age 72 of Morgan, Texas passed away Thursday evening, January 16, 2014, at his residence in Lakeside Village.

Funeral Services were held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 20, 2014 at Lawson Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Creech officiating. A visitation was held from 5:00 until 7:00 P. M., Sunday evening, January 19th at Lawson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Kimball Cemetery near Kopperl, Texas with U. S. Army Honor Guard honors. Pallbearers were Brian McRorey, Albert Kirk, Trevor Hamill, John Wakefield, Tommy Johnston, and Dustin Lawson. Honorary pallbearers were Ethan Kirk and Marcus Byrum.

Wilson was born on December 29, 1941 to Woodrow and Pearl Shaw in Duncanville, Texas. He was raised and educated in and around the Duncanville area. In 1966 Mr. Shaw enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country as a medic during the Vietnam war. For his valor and service he received the Purple Heart Medal. On April 22, 1977 he married Jeanette Pogue in Grand Prairie and the couple made their home in Duncanville where Wilson owned and operated the Duncan Exterminating business. In 1989 Mr. Shaw retired and he and his family moved to Lakeside Village. As an avid hunter and fisherman, the Lakeside Village area proved to be a perfect location for him and his family members as they all enjoyed boating and fishing and the outdoors. Mr. Shaw was a member of the Duncanville Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Shaw of Lakeside Village; daughters, Mona Walker of Whitney, Carolyn Villines of Azle, Sherry Wakefield and husband, John, of Stephenville, and Teresa Hamill and fiancé, Clint Groomer, both of McKinney; 12 Grandchildren; 24 Great-grandchildren; 1 Great-great-grandchild; brother, Jimmie Shaw and wife, Carolyn, of Forney; 1 nephew and 2 nieces; a number of other relatives and many friends.

Mr. Shaw was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson Shaw and Lena Pearl Moore Shaw; a son-in-law, Phillip Ray Walker; and a great-granddaughter, Starr Kirk.
