A.L. "Don" Baker

July 17, 1944 — September 6, 2022

Meridian, Texas and formerly of Walnut Springs, Texas

A.L. "Don" Baker our precious husband, Dad, GDad and GGDad was lifted up into the everlasting arms of his savior Jesus Christ on September 6, 2022 in Waco, Texas.

Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Don was born in Gorman, Texas on July 17, 1944 to Averill and Juanita Baker. His early years were in Comanche and Fort Worth areas with his "tech shop class" being his favorite. He retired from IUOE where he worked in commercial construction as a Heavy Equipment Operator. His hobbies were drag racing in Mansfield where he won a room full of trophies, fishing Texas lakes with Fort Worth Anglers and the "100 Club" where he won another room of trophies, hunting white tail deer and other exotics. Don was a "Country Boy" who had an undying love of family. Each and everyone was loved equally and deeply. Not one stood alone. He had a huge heart whose strong safe arms melted away every care, burden, hurt and pain. His bright smile and great sense of humor always caused a burst of laughter. All who knew him loved him. His most fervent wish was to know the Dad he never knew. God has granted his wish. Don will be sorely missed by his loving wife of 43 years, Cynthia Ann Baker; children, LaDonna and Ronnie, Shelly and Mike, Joni and Bryan, Gregg Robert and Jennifer; grandchildren, Cody and Cassidee, Tucker and Daryl, Ryan and Kristen, Caitlin and Zack, Maverick and Mary, Tyler, Morgan, Owen, Camille and Graydyn; great-grandchildren, Leona, Loewy, Emmitt and Laken; loving sister, Judy Ward and many friends.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
