Bobbye T. (Wilcox) Spitzer

September 3, 1928 — September 10, 2020

Meridian, Texas

Bobbye passed away peacefully on September 10, 2020 at the Sunset Home in Clifton, Texas.  She was born on September 3, 1928 in Strawn Texas as the first child to Albert (Bob) and Anna Wilcox.  She was followed by Betty, Jo Ann, and Tommy.  Bob was an itinerant lineman at that time and settled in Clifton when she started to school.  She graduated from Clifton High School and attended business college in Dallas where she studied bookkeeping.  She returned to Clifton and worked as a clerk and bookkeeper until marrying Mervin (Fuzz) Spitzer on February 24, 1950.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 2 P.M. at Lawson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Clifton Memorial Park Cemetery in Clifton. Rev. Richard Creech and Rev. Henry Radde will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M., Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Lawson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Dean Engel, Jason Engel, Tate Engel, Darrel Goains, Bryan Slover, and Sam Slover.

She moved to Meridian where she remained the for the remainder of her life.  They had one child, Tommy, and when he was school aged, she returned to work part time as a clerk at several businesses in Meridian before being hired at the ASCS office full time for 30 years until she retired.  In addition to work she was an active member of the First Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School, she was also involved in PTA, Cub Scouts, Chamber of Commerce, VFW Auxiliary, North Bosque Helping Hands, and other civic organizations.  She received the Outstanding Volunteer Award for the Waco area in 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and one nephew, James Howard Heath of Valley Mills.

She is survived by her son Tommy Spitzer and wife Sandra of Meridian, grandchildren, Michael Spitzer and wife Elizabeth, Courtney Spitzer, great-grandchildren Clayton, Nathanael, Elijah, Lorelei, and Adelei Spitzer, sister-in-law LaVerne Wilcox and many nieces and nephews

Arrangements were made by Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792.
