Charles R. (Charlie) Owen of Morgan, TX passed away on November 21, 2020, at home.   A visitation will be from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Monday, November 23, 2020, at Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, TX.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Hieronymus Cemetery, Armington, IL.

Charlie was born January 1, 1950 in Grand Prairie, TX, the son of Arville and Jeanne Woods Owen.

He married Nancy Scott on September 7, 1996 in Lakeside Village, TX.  She survives.

Surviving are his 5 children: Tara (Daniel) McKey, Austin, TX, Austan Owen, Lakeway, TX, Haley (Wade Sikking) Owen, Dallas, TX, Amanda (Matthew) Campbell, Adam Scott, San Diego, CA; 5 grandchildren; two sisters: Elizabeth King, Lakeside Village, TX, and Ellen Thompson, Dallas, TX.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers: Ollie, Jerry, and Jim Owen.

Charlie’s law enforcement career spanned over 30 years, serving as a Police Officer of the Texas A&M University, Deputy Sheriff of Brazos County, and Special Enforcement Officer of the Office of the Attorney General of the State of Texas.  He served as the public spokesman of the Crime Stoppers program in Brazos County while he was a Deputy Sheriff.  He retired in 2003 and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the management of his pecan orchard.

Arrangements are being handled by Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas and Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, IL.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
