Edwin Michael "Mike" Stell

Mike Stell, of Laguna Park, Tx, was born to the late Edwin M. Stell and Katherine L. Stell on May 27, 1940.  Mike passed in Temple, Tx, Sunday, March 19, 2023, at the age of 82.

Mike was raised in Ft. Worth, Tx.  He was an only child, and shared a very special bond with his parents who proceeded him in death.  Mike graduated from Paschal High School in Ft. Worth in 1958.  Football and track were his sports of choice, in which he excelled.  Mike began his college career at Texas Tech as a sprinting member of the track team.  He transferred to McMurray University, in Abilene, Tx. his Sophomore year to run track.  He was met with great success and life long relationships with his teammates, that he considered family.  He also played football at McMurray, and graduated in 1963.  He then joined the Army and was enlisted from November 1963 to November 1969.  He began his professional career with Sinclare Oil, later to find his calling as an Insurance Broker.  He enjoyed horse racing, and spending time at his cabin in Ruidoso, N.M.

Mike retired and moved to his home in Laguna Park, Tx.  He enjoyed the small community of friends.  His passion was McMurray Track and Field.  He maintained relationships with coaches and other athletes.  Mike was inducted into the McMurray Hall of Honor in 2004.

He was a great friend, conversationalist, and will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held in his honor at Lawson Funeral Home Thursday, April 6th at 11:00 am, in Meridian, Tx.
