Obituary

Jimmie Dale Randolph, age 76, went home to be with the Lord on the 30th of April, 2023, after a short illness.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Sunday afternoon, May 14th, from 3:00 to 4:30 PM at the Meridian Civic Center. Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life with us.

Jim was born in Forth Worth, Texas, to Jimmie and Gladys Elizabeth Bridges Randolph on

August 10th, 1946. When he was four years old, he and his parents moved to the family farm southwest of Cleburne a few miles from Cleburne State Park. He loved growing up in the country and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and roaming the area with his friends. Through high school, he was active in FFA, always enjoying anything to do with animals. After graduating from Cleburne High School in 1964, Jim enrolled in Texas A & M, where he earned an Animal Science degree in 1968. With the Vietnam war in progress, he joined the Air Force upon graduation. He served as a supply officer for radar squadrons in Vermont first and then in Florida. Upon discharge, he went back to college at Texas University in Arlington for a degree in Pharmacy. Although Jim would have preferred a career working with animals, especially cattle, that was not to be. Pharmacy was the life work that supported his family. The highlight of his pharmacy career was the years he was commissioned to the Public Health Service on Indian Reservations in Arizona, South Dakota, and Montana. He enjoyed working alongside the doctors at the reservation clinics, as well as with the Native American people, who held a special place in his heart.

Jim loved listening to country gospel music. He also loved to play his guitar and sing, especially old country songs. He was a bold witness for the Lord and was always quick to share his love of Jesus with everyone. Missionaries and the poor, especially children, really touched him, and he was an avid supporter of both. Jim truly loved the Lord and tried his best to serve Him all of his life. It was his desire to always put the Lord first. His family was a close second. He was a wonderful husband and dad to his four sons. According to Jim, his sons were his best friends. When the daughters-in-law came into the family, he loved them and considered them his kids, as well. The grandchildren were a great source of joy and pride for him. He loved having them around and having a good time with them. He was happiest when he was outdoors, working with cattle, fishing, hunting, or anything else, as long as it was with his family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jeanie Marie, and four sons, Gregory Lee and wife Victoria Patricia, Thomas Flint and wife Stacie Jean, John David (J. D.) and wife Mary Catherine, and John Beaver Randolph. His seven grandchildren from oldest to youngest are Shannon Loray, Augustus (Gus) Dale, William Daniel, Isaac Thomas, Emma Jean, Aleyah Melinda, and Hailey Marie Randolph.

He is also survived by his only sibling, Judy Ruth Randolph Dawson.

Jim was a very special husband, dad, Paw Paw, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and loved him.
