Levada R. (Bryn) Whitford

Meridian, Texas

Levada R. (Bryn) Whitford, age 80, of Clifton, Texas passed away on May 20, 2021 after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap. Rev. Richard Creech will officiate. Private family only burial will take place in Meridian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, May 28, 2021 at Lawson Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Danny Allen, Todd Hyatt, Richard Norton, Stephen Barnett, Bill Williams, and Jeff Rose. Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry McMurray, Kenny Klose and Robin Avance.

She was born on March 27, 1941 in Meridian, TX to Levi and Rowena Bryn.  She was raised on a farm in Cranfills Gap, TX, where she also graduated high school in 1959.  She attended Texas Lutheran University where she earned an Associate Degree in Elementary Education.  She began her working career as a Kindergarten teacher at a private Lutheran school in Abilene, Tx.  She married William “Bill” Whitford on May 27, 1962. They made their home in Meridian, TX, where they raised their two daughters. She worked for Bosque County Bank in Meridian for more than 40 years. It was there that she made life-long friendships with co-workers and many customers. She served her community by serving on the North Bosque EMS Board, Meridian Public Library Association and National Championship BBQ Cook-off Committee.  As an active member of the Meridian Chamber of Commerce, she was granted a Lifetime Achievement Award.  She served as organist for 40 plus years to several churches in Bosque County including St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Cranfills Gap, Faith Lutheran Church in Meridian and First United Methodist Church in Cranfills Gap. She loved sharing her talent of playing the piano and organ for countless weddings and special services. She also taught piano lessons to numerous students in the Bosque County area.

Levada is survived by her daughters, Kelli Townley and husband, Rodney of Bernard, Maine; Kimberly Sedberry of Clifton, Tx; grandchildren, Austin Townley and fiance` Rachel Russell, Taylor Tinker and husband, Ryan all of Trenton, Maine; Ethan Sedberry and wife, Brie of Waco, Tx; Jackson Sedberry of Clifton, Tx; nieces, Margie (Whitford) McMillin and husband, Pat of Waco, Tx; Patti (Whitford) Guyer of Houston, Tx; Ann (Whitford) Hochman and husband, Kevin of Norman, Ok; Kelly (Whitford) McNeil and husband, Daryl of Houston, Tx; and many great nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved fur baby, Chip, whom she adored.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Levi and Rowena Bryn and husband, William “Bill” Whitford.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the staff and nurses of Willowpark Nursing and Rehabilitation and Sunset Ministries Hospice for the compassionate care she received while at their facility.
