Matthew Ray Boggs age 34, of Valley Mills, Texas and formerly of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly after being struck by lightning while walking his sons home from the bus stop on May 15, 2023. His youngest son, Grayson Boggs was also struck by lightning at the same time. while holding his father's hand.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M., Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Bosque County Cowboy Church in Meridian. Pastor Tater Paschal will officiate. Another funeral service and burial will be held in the next few weeks in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Matthew Ray Boggs was born on August 15, 1988 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Timothy Lee Bowen and Angela Sue Boggs. Matthew was born and raised in Indianapolis and graduated from Warren Central High School. He moved to Texas around 6 years ago to be closer to one of his mother's best friends. Matthew loved watching wrestling and being with family. He was a faithful member of the Bosque County Cowboy Church in Meridian. Often times you could find Matthew up on stage singing and praising the Lord. Matthew found great joy in music and enjoyed singing any chance he got but we can rest assured that Matthew is now singing with the angels.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kayla Boggs; children, Elijah and Grayson Boggs and Navaeh Smith; mother, Angela Boggs; father, Tim Bowen; step-father, B.J. McClellen; step-mother, Tonya Bowen; grandparents, Roselynn Bentley, Helen Boggs, Robert Dalton, Jr., Carmen and John Bowen; brothers, Justin, J.T., Shawn and Brandon; aunt and uncles, Ken Boggs, Randy Bowen, Robert Dalton, Kathy Boggs and Tony Boggs; numerous cousins and a number of close friends whom he considered family.

Preceded in death by his grandfathers, Billy Ray Boggs and Junior Bentley; and great-aunt, Ettie.

Arrangements were entrusted to Lawson Funeral Home, Meridian, Texas 254-435-2792 .
