Robert John Pauken, III

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert John Pauken III, who departed this world on Memorial Day, May 29, 2023. Rob was known by many names in his lifetime: Son, Father, Husband, Chef, City inspector, Sergeant, and Friend. Regardless of what you called him, he would always leave behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength.

Robert's "Get Together" will take place on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 1:30 P.M. until 4:30 P.M. at the Atrium in Garland, Texas located at 330 N. 5th Street, Garland, Texas 75040. Anyone coming in from out of town they have family staying at the following hotel:

Born on October 7th, 1962, Rob was the son of Robert John Pauken Jr. and Shirley Taylor Rinehart. He grew up with his parents and sister Wendy Bruwer, where he developed a deep appreciation for community, hard work, and the value of human connection. Rob carried these values throughout his life, making a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

Rob's commitment to personal growth and dedication led him to join the United States Army at the age of 21 as an 11 Bravo (Infantry) soldier, where he conducted multiple humanitarian missions to Egypt and Panama. During his distinguished military tenure, he earned commendations including the Expert Rifleman award, successful completion of Airborne and Jungle schools, acquisition of the Expert Infantry Badge, and ultimately attaining the esteemed Title of Drill Sergeant.

The motto of the Drill Sergeant is:

"I will lead from the front, and instill pride in all that I train." - "This We'll Defend."

Rob utilized that motto not only in his military career but also when he had his first child with his first wife, Lisa Bailey Pauken. Jonathan Ray Pauken was born, and Robert earned his title of father.

He embraced his role as a father with unwavering dedication and extended his love of the great outdoors to his son, where he found solace and joy. He was an avid hunter, and his love of hard work and guns was instilled into Jonathan. Spending countless hours exploring nature's wonders, Rob found peace and tranquility in the embrace of nature and the sound of gunfire.

After Rob's time in the military, he was ready to gain a whole new set of titles. Robert remarried in October of 1992 to Anne Marie Pauken, where he would have another child, Taylor Louise Pauken. He now earned the title of being a girl dad. Rob's kindness and compassion ensured he rose to the occasion.

He embarked on his professional journey by receiving his Degree in Architecture from the University of Texas at Arlington. He applied his expertise within the city of Garland, where he dedicated 26 years of service. During his tenure, he fostered valuable connections while occasionally ruffling a few feathers. His hard work and dedication earned him the title of Building inspector for the City.

Rob's happiness, genuine concern for others, and culinary prowess made him a cherished companion. His mere presence illuminated every room he entered, particularly the kitchen, where his culinary talents shined. Ensuring that no one went hungry, he often playfully inquired, "Have you ever tasted my sausage?" His culinary confidence knew no bounds, and those fortunate enough to savor his creations can attest to the excellence of his sausage.

Although we mourn the loss of Rob, we find solace in the memories we shared and the impact he made on our lives. He leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, and a deep sense of community. Rob's spirit will continue to guide us, inspiring us to live each day with kindness and generosity.

Dear Rob, your absence will be deeply felt, but your memory will forever reside in our hearts. Each time we savor a delicious meal, raise a glass, engage in a thrilling activity, or witness acts of generosity, thoughts of you will come.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Anne Pauken of Richardson, Texas; son, Johnathan Pauken of Edmond, Oklahoma; daughter, Taylor Beverly of Sanford, Florida; mother, Shirley Rinehart of Austin; father, Robert John Pauken, Jr., of Red Oak, Texas; sister, Wendy Bruwer of Lexington, Kentucky; niece, Madison Caudill of Lexington, Kentucky; granddaughter, Madelyn Pauken of Edmon Oklahoma; and many other relatives and friends.
