Virgil Earl Curtis was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on February 18, 1948. He was an avid acting member of Lighthouse Baptist Church for over 10 years. He was very involved in the Bosque Arts Center. More then anything he loved to help people and was always helping in whatever he could do. He learned to do cement masonry working with his grandfather where he was a teenager. Virgil enlisted in the United States Army and was sent to Vietnam. When he returned he lived in Baytown, Texas where he ended up working as a supervisor for Exxon Oil Company. He retired from Exxon after many years of service. After much coaxing from family he finally moved to God's Country where he bought several acres outside of Valley Mills. He worked on many projects one being planting fruit and nut trees that would grow in this area. Virgil was a member of the Master Gardner's in Waco, Texas and often taught some classes on Bonsai Growing that he had been doing for years. He was also a member of the Tin Building Theatre in Clifton, Texas and helped in whatever ways he could, either building props or acting. The one thing Virgil sincerely loved was helping people. Virgil never missed an opportunity to travel, hike, kayak, and work with friends but most of all hanging out and just talking with them. Virgil could light up any room and will truly be missed.
